REMINDERS FROM THE OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS:

Winter Uniform: Effective November 1, 2106, all students must be dressed in winter uniform.  As a reminder, I have included the uniform requirements as outlined in the Student Handbook.  See below:

Boys must wear a white button-down dress shirt (short or long sleeved) with the uniform tie or a CCHS tie that is sold in the school store.  The Flynn & O'Hara green non-varsity cardigan or V-neck pull over sweater (freshmen and sophomores only) or the green varsity cardigan sweater for juniors and seniors must be worn.
Pants must be worn at the waist and hemmed appropriately.  Sweaters must be properly fitted and in good condition.  All shirts must be tucked in so that the belt is visible.  Collars on shirts must be properly buttoned.  Ties must be pulled to the collar.  T-Shirts worn under uniform shirts/polos must be plain white (no logos or designs).

Girls must wear the white CC uniform blouse (short or long sleeved) with the Flynn & O'Hara green non-varsity cardigan or V-neck pull over sweater (freshmen and sophomores only) or the green varsity cardigan sweater for juniors and seniors.  Plain black tights, not stockings, in good condition (no holes) must be worn.
Kilts must be worn at the waist and never rolled.  Sweaters must be properly fitted and in good condition.  Blouses must be properly tucked into the kilts and only the top button may be unbuttoned.  Collars on the blouses must be properly buttoned.  T-shirts worn under uniform blouses/polos must be plain white(no logos or designs).

Attendance Reminders:   Daily attendance is important for student learning.  If your child is not able to be present, please call the Absentee Line 856-663-2247 ext. 301 in the morning.  Upon return to school your child must submit an official Camden Catholic absence note and any supporting documentation, if available, such as doctor's note, court papers, funeral notice, college visitation paperwork.  If an absence note is not submitted on the third day back to school one demerit will be issued for no absence note; three demerits for disrespect for school rules will be issued on the fourth day back, and an one hour private detention with the Dean of Students will be issued if the note is not submitted by the fifth day back.  A parent/guardian will be asked to sign the note when collecting the student from detention.   Demerits will count towards school detention.

Warning letters for excessive absences and early dismissal requests will be issued in the near future.  If you receive a letter, please review, sign and return the letter by the date indicated.  If you have documentation that will excuse an absence, please submit it to the Student Affairs Office.

SENIOR HALLOWEEN COSTUME DAY - OCTOBER 31 - REGULATIONS
FINAL REMINDER
The Class of 2017 will be permitted to dress up in Halloween costumes on October 31.  They are expected to abide by the following stipulations.  A separate sheet with these directives will be forwarded to the senior homerooms for distribution to each senior.
WE WANT INTERESTING COSTUMES.  STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE LEGITIMATE COSTUMES THAT CAN BE EASILY RECOGNIZED WITHOUT THE USE OF THE PROHIBITED ITEMS LISTED BELOW.   STUDENTS SHOULD CONSIDER DEVELOPING A THEME WITH THEIR FRIENDS OR DESIGN THEIR OWN UNIQUE & TASTEFUL COSTUME.
UNACCEPTABLE COSTUME EXAMPLES:

ATHLETIC GEAR - CLAIMING TO BE A SPORTS FAN
FOR SAFETY, SECURITY & MODESTY REASONS THE FOLLOWING ITEMS CAN NOT BE PART OF ANY COSTUME  :

  • SWORDS, KNIVES, CLUBS, BOWS & ARROWS OR ANY OTHER WEAPONS
  • CLOTHING THAT DOES NOT COVER YOU APPROPRIATELY (TANK OR HALTER TOPS, BARE BACKS OR MIDRIFFS, OR TOGAS) OR THAT PROMOTES NEGATIVE RELIGIOUS, RACIAL OR POLITICAL TONES.
  • NO ROLLER BLADES, SKATE BOARDS, CARTS OR ANY TYPE OF VEHICLE
  • IN LIGHT OF RECENT CONTROVERSIES AND ONGOING LAW ENFORCEMENT SCRUTINY, CLOWN COSTUMES ARE NOT PERMITTED.
SENIORS SHOULD REMEMBER THEY ARE REPRESENTING THEIR CATHOLIC SCHOOL.  MODESTY & DECENCY ARE A MUST.  WE WANT THEM TO HAVE FUN NOT TO BE SENT HOME FOR AN INAPPROPRIATE COSTUME.

IF SENIORS OPT TO NOT DRESS IN COSTUME, THEY MUST WEAR THEIR UNIFORMS.

WINTER UNIFORM BEGINS NOVEMBER 1
All students are reminded that we will be transitioning into Winter Uniform on November 1.  This means that buttoned down shirts/blouses, ties, tights, and sweaters are mandatory.
SPIRIT WEEK 2016
Preparations for Spirit Week have started.  Please have your student(s) get involved with the different activities from now through Thanksgiving.  Classes gain Spirit Week points for events.  The class with the most points wins Spirit Week and gets bragging rights for the year.

Powderpuff Football is a flag football game played by the girls.  The classes play against each other for Spirit Week points.  The event will take place on Monday, November 21st at 7 p.m. under the lights on Shamrock Field.

The Canned Food and Toy Drive is going on now through Friday, November 11th.  Each can or brand new toy counts as ONE point towards Spirit Week points.  Please send in Canned Food and Toys for Charity.

Coin Wars will be held from November 14-18.  This date has changed from the original calendar.  The purpose of this competition is to raise funds for a good cause.  The student government is still under debate to which charity they want to donate.  There will be class jars in the dining hall during all lunches.  Pennies count as positive points, silver coins count as negative points.  Students are asked to place pennies into their class jar, and "sabotage" the other classes by placing silver coins into the other jars.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your class moderator or Student Government moderator, Mrs. Merenyi at [email protected].

PIANO PERFORMANCE & MASTER CLASS
ENHANCES LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Students involved in the choral and band classes at Camden Catholic were given a classical piano presentation where they could experience virtuosic playing up close and ask questions. For the majority of the students, it was the first time they had attended a classical music concert. The chairs were gathered around the keys of the piano in a semicircle so that the students could have a clear view of the presenter's fingers gliding across the keys.

The presenter was Mr. Daniel Kuehler, a piano performance graduate student who currently studies at The Catholic University of America. His undergraduate degree is in piano performance from the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Mr. Kuehler's visit to Camden Catholic came in the midst of his preparation for Doctoral auditions in piano performance, which will take place at several music conservatories around the country in the coming months.
