We are grateful for all those who attended the Parent Orientation on September 5th.  The information distributed that evening will be mailed to those not in attendance.

Beginning this week the Freshman class will start a series of regular meetings during the daily activity period to assist with their transition.  On Monday, Sept 11th they will learn about school safety and on Thursday, Sept 14th there will be a study skills session on notetaking. We will post the notetaking presentation to the Freshman Transition webpage at http://www.camdencatholic.org/admissions/freshman-transition/ once it is presented.

ACTIVITIES
  • Junior Class Rings: A representative from Herff Jones will be in the dining hall during lunch periods on Friday, September 15th to collect junior class ring balances.  Reminder letters from Herff Jones were sent to all juniors who ordered rings.
  • Clubs & Activities Fair: Students will have the opportunity to sign up for Clubs and Activities at the Activity Fair which will take place during all lunch periods on September 25, 2017.
  • The Senior Class is sponsoring a fundraiser of selling CCHS Water bottles for $5.00 each.  These will be available for sale at the Blarney Store during lunch periods.  Students will be permitted to have water with them during the school day using these CCHS water bottles.  The funds raised will help maintain the new water filling stations donated by the Class of 2017 which are located throughout the school.  The manufacture of the water bottles note hand washing only.
From the Office of Student Affairs:

Student Handbook:     A number of changes were made to the Student Handbook for the 2017-2018 school year. Some of the more important changes are noted below:
  • Girls wear the uniform plaid kilt or gray Flynn & O'Hara pants.   The uniform plaid kilt may not be hemmed more than two inches above the knee. If a student persistently violates this requirement, they may be required to wear the grey pants for the duration of the year. Plain black tights are to be worn at all times with kilts.  If wearing pants, girls are required to wear socks; black or brown is the preferred color.
  • Boys are required to wear socks; black or brown is the preferred color.
  • Boys' hair must be no longer than their shirt collar in the back and no more than 3 inches high on the top. Students must be well-groomed. Facial hair should be neatly trimmed.
  • Relaxed Dress Code Pants: No writing, logos or messages should be on the seat of the pants.
  • Cell Phone: All mobile learning devices, including cell phones are not to be visible during the school day.  All cell phones should be stored in the student's locker unless they are to be used for teacher directed instruction only. At no time will the student utilize their cell phone during the course of the school day for non-teacher directed instructional reasons which means they are not to be used in the Dining Hall, hallways, Information Commons, Study Hall or any other location. If an emergent situation arises, students will be referred to the appropriate staff person to allow communication with a parent or guardian. Consequences for violating the policy are outlined in the Student Handbook.
Gym Uniforms  The  Camden Catholic High School reversible t-shirt and green gym shorts must be purchased in the CCHS school store.

Parking:     Students who request permission to drive to school must do the following
  • Return the completed Student Parking Agreement and Vehicle Registration Form and pay the $50.00 parking fee to the Office of Student Affairs.
  • Park in their assigned parking spot.  Display their hangtag on their rear view mirror.
  • Observe the 15 mph speed limit in the parking lot and maintain safe driving habits at all times.

Students who park on school grounds without purchasing a parking space will be issued 5 demerits and must follow the above parking procedures.  Additionally, students who do not comply with the Parking Lot regulations may receive demerits, be towed at owner's expense, or lose their parking lot privileges.

Parking Lot Reminder:   The morning student drop off has been going very smoothly. Please continue to use the parent drop off lane in the rear of the building to drop off students in the morning to ensure the safety of all students.  Please pull forward to the top of the lane so that traffic does not back up into the side parking lot.  Students should not exit parent driven vehicles in the travel or bus lanes of the student parking area; this jeopardizes the safety of the students .

School Forms:     All students are expected to return the Signature Page from the Student Planner and the Emergency Contact form to their homeroom teachers by Friday September 15.  Seniors must also to submit the Early Dismissal Letter.

Water Bottles
The Class of 2017 generously donated several water filling stations located around the school.  In light of this generous gift, students may carry approved water bottles sold in the CCHS store.  This clear plastic water bottle is the only approved bottle and is for water only.  Juice, soda, fruit infused water, etc. are not permitted.  Students should write their name on the bottle with a marker for identification.  Non-authorized bottles and beverages will be confiscated and students will be subject to disciplinary action.
FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE
Freshman health office packets should have been returned by August 1st.  If your child's packet and physical have not been returned, please send the paperwork to school immediately or your child will not be permitted to participate in gym class, which may affect his/her grade.
