Top 5 Reasons to "Paddle & Run"
Just a reminder, our 3rd annual Iron Eagle Paddle & Run takes place Saturday, July 25 at Eagle Creek Park's beach! Here's some top reasons to register:
5. Take in the scenery
Brace yourself for incredible nature views. Eagle Creek Park is an island of nature with an urban landscape - it's hard to imagine you're still within city limits out at the park! Take in all the sights with a great workout, and we guarantee you'll want to come back for more!
4. Try something new
Never kayaked or canoed before? Be adventurous and get out of your comfort zone! You can always test the waters before the race with equipment from Eagle Creek Outfitters prior to. And don't forget, you can rent a one or 2-person kayak/canoe from them for race day as well.
3. You don't have to be a pro athlete
Yes, we put this race on to compete, but also to have fun! All ages are welcome, plus we have a NEW 3-person relay division this year! So, if you don't think you can make it through all legs of the race, no problem! Get some of your friends together to work as a team - and just race one of the legs!
2. There's no other race like it in central Indiana
Venture "over the hills and through the waves" at one of the nation's top 10 largest city parks! This one-of-a-kind race may not have a series of extreme obstacles, but it does embrace adventure on both land and water! Racers can conquer a combo of 6 miles of trails and also get a chance to cool off on the water mid-race. Did we mention we throw a party afterwards at the Earth Discovery Center?
1. Give back to the park
Did you know Eagle Creek Park receives very little funding from the city compared to other parks of similar size across the US? And all daily entrance fees do not cover operating costs? 100% of race proceeds will benefit the Eagle Creek Park Foundation in helping fund park improvements, youth environmental programs and restoration projects for future generations to enjoy.
Cost per person goes up from $60 to $70 at midnight tonight!
