Message from Principal Paul Bierman
Welcome to the NEW YEAR
"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called OPPORTUNITY and its first chapter is New Year's Day!"
~ Edith Pierce

Welcome to 2018! This quote sums up what the New Year feels like to our students and staff. Opportunities for growth and development for our children and our teachers seem to be ever present. It's exciting to see the advancement each child shows from the beginning of the year until now, and it's also exciting to see the new ideas our teachers implement to guide each child to their full potential. In this new year, we will challenge ourselves, make new memories and try new things that will be written in our book of opportunity.

Our Focus in January!
In January, staff and students will be focusing on reading! We will be working hard on each individual student's growth. Some areas of growth that are particularly important are:
  1. Improving reading fluency and comprehension
  2. Understanding main ideas
  3. Understanding details of the writing

To encourage our students in their reading growth, we will hold a reading contest. Mr. Bierman will eat lunch with the class who has the highest percentage of participation in reading for the month! Watch for reading logs to come home weekly with your children. Logs will be due each Friday in the month of January!

Pennies for Patients!
Once again we will have a week of fundraising beginning February 5 running until February 9. We will have dress up days and students are encouraged to bring in different denominations of money on each designated day. Please watch for a note coming home with your child mid-January with more information.
