Our project foreman dropped in this morning for a quick report and was pleased to hear that we've already raised over $1,000 in donations and received 48 volunteer hour pledges. Thank you!
After making some notes and munching some carrots, the construction pro hurried off to another meeting...but not before reminding us how easy it is to make a donation online. ("Just click the yellow button!")
Donate and Win a Blue Mountain Barn Quilt!
o celebrate our Blue Mountain Barn Raising, we decided to create a barn quilt to give to one lucky donor. Everyone who helps carry us towards our $10,000 goal will be entered into a drawing to be held on November 29. (Stay tuned to our Facebook page for chances for extra entries!)
Art teacher, Lore Deighan, plan
ned to create the quilt design herself, but when she heard that the Black, Fire-Breathing Pythons had been working on patterns in math, an idea formed.
Each of the middle elementary students created their own design, and then Lore combined these works into the final quilt.
The quilt pattern was copied onto plywood and cut into 64 blocks, and then the blocks were painted by Blue Mountain School students and staff.
So what does the quilt look like? You'll have to wait and see! For every $156 donated, we'll add one piece to the quilt and post a picture on our Facebook page.

Through the Virginia State Neighborhood Assistance Program, anyone who files Virginia state taxes is eligible to receive a 65% state tax credit on donations of at least $500 in 2017 ($616 for a business). Your entire donation may be claimed on your federal tax return, so your $500 donation will cost you less than $175!
