Visiting Lecturer: Sara Yoheved Rigler

Shabbat, August 12th

After Kiddush: The Spiritual GPS (all are invited)
Based on Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe's teachings, there are two parallel worlds. One is characterized by love, joy, confidence, and calmness, while the other is characterized by animosity, sadness, anxiety, and criticism. Shows how to determine where you are, choose your destination, and, by one simple action, get to the world of connection and joy.

Women's Oneg: The Wisdom of Not Knowing: (5:30 p.m. at Island Synagogue)
Our compulsion to "be in the know" and to fill in the blanks when we don't know leads to conjectures and condemnations. All interpersonal friction start with negative judgments. This lecture provides a simple antidote.

As of this printing only three (3) people have confirmed that they are committed to helping out with the yard/estate/garage sale that the synagogue will be holding on August 6th.
Ed must have commitments of no less than ten (10) people no later than Tuesday, July 19th, otherwise the event will be canceled.

   Y ard/estate/garage/basement sale
Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

However, it cannot happen without a cadre of a minimum of ten (10) people working on that Sunday to monitor the merchandise, help with boxing or bagging and cleaning up after the sale.

I will also need people during the week to set up the display of merchandise.  Merchandise will only be accepted during designated hours from the Sunday proceeding the event through Thursday (except on Tuesday, August 1st - the Fast of Av).

This is a great chance to contribute a significant amount of dollars to the creation of a children's playground for our synagogue. So let's keep the names of volunteers coming in to me at ed@islandsynagogue.org.
Save the Date!

The Island Synagogue Annual Meeting will take place on:
Sunday, September 10, 2017
