Artful Living Project - Enhancing Creativity, Boosting Academics, and Igniting Leadership

Under the leadership of Chris Craft, the Artful Living Project is a pre-school based arts immersion program that began as a collaboration in Massilon.[1]

The Project stimulates creativity, leadership, and academic achievement by connecting professional artists with preschool students for 20 minute daily immersive arts sessions in visual arts, literature, music, and dance. These experiences are enhanced with family oriented activities and resources.

Preschoolers participating in the program demonstrated a significant improvement in originality and imagination over a control group of preschoolers from a similar Stark County school district as measured by the Thinking Creatively in Action and Movement (TCAM). Participating preschoolers also demonstrated significant gains when compared to a control group in three subscales of the Young Children's Achievement Test (YCAT).[2]

The collaborative encompasses more than a dozen partners and funders including the Canton City School District and Canton arts organizations, and will soon expand to other preschools in Stark County.
