Five Stark Programs Showcased for Innovation 

On November 11th, the Ohio School Boards Association showcased 100 of the most innovative public school programs in Ohio at it's Student Achievement Fair in Columbus. Three from Canton City and two from Plain Local were among those recognized. In addition, a documentary of the conference was filmed and will be produced by North Canton Hoover High School.

Stark County Continues Long History Being Designated as Schools of Promise
     

For over a decade, the Ohio Department of Education has recognized schools serving at least 40% of students meeting the criteria for economic disadvantage whose reading and math scores are proficient or higher. Stark County has continued to have significant representation as Schools of Promise, High Performing Schools of Honor, and High Progress Schools of Honor.

 

This year, five schools have been honored[1] -  Avondale Elementary (Plain Local), Canton Arts Academy @ Summit (Canton City), Fairless Middle School (Fairless Local), Massillon Junior High School (Massillon City), and Whipple Heights Elementary School (Perry Local).
