Another Record Breaking Year for Stark Students Taking High School Based Dual Credit Courses
An estimated 1,763 Stark County students took the equivalent of 3,731 three hour college courses in high school last year (2013-2014), surpassing a previous high of 1,500 students and 3,508 courses in 2012-13.
All Stark County high schools offer dual credit courses, which enable students to earn college and often high school credit for the same course. Dual credit in Stark County is taught by high school teachers who qualify as college adjuncts at the high schools.
School districts and colleges/universities sign a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) which ensures course quality, guarantees costs, and provides support services for students.
