Facilitated Online Dual Credit Courses Result in Deep Learning

A recent Stark Education Partnership study - funded by the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation - sought to answer the question "Do facilitated online dual credit courses result in deep learning?"[1]

The answer? They definitely can. Stark County students, facilitating teachers, and college faculty from the study agreed that a number of the components of deep learning  were present in the online dual credit courses students were enrolled in with Stark State College in the fall of 2014.

The role of the facilitating teacher in online dual credit courses may be particularly crucial in bridging the gap for low income and first generation college students providing guidance on college knowledge and serving a function similar to collegiate success coaches.
