Canton City Schools Continues to "Chart a Course" by Launching Early College AcademySchool Sign

Canton has made important progress and has already shown the innovation and initiative that suggest it can continue to chart a course toward more improvement.- Building a Grad Nation [1]

The innovation and initiative that brought the Canton City Schools national attention last month continued Monday night as the board of education approved what will become the district's middle school college academy.

The Canton Early College Academy (ECA) draws upon lessons learned at the district's Early College High School to introduce new levels of college preparatory rigor into the middle school curriculum.

While college preparatory middle schools are not a new concept, most are private or stand-alone schools. Canton's program will be unique in that ECA will be a mainstream program for students in an urban district.
