Stark County's Green Universities

Kent State University at Stark and the University of Mount Union have been recognized again as Tree Campus USA Schools [1] by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Campuses qualifying for the award must meet five standards to demonstrate effective campus tree management, connect beyond the campus to "foster healthy, urban forests," and create service learning opportunities that include the campus, the community, and forests.

Sponsored by the Toyota Foundation, the award "honors colleges and universities for promoting healthy urban forest management and engaging the campus community in environmental stewardship."
