Graduation Only Line of graduatesthe Beginning for Canton Early College High School Students

They want to be engineers, nurses, doctors, lawyers and accountants. Some plan to earn a Master's or Ph.D. They are the Canton Early College High School (CECHS) Graduating Class of 2012 and 70% have already have a college degree.

Twenty-nine of 40 CECHS seniors received either an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science Degree from Stark State College on Sunday May 20th. The rest have earned substantial college credit with many only a course or two away from a degree. All will graduate with their home high schools of McKinley and Timken this week. These students see CECHS as only the beginning and plan to continue their education. They will join previous graduates, 76% of whom are currently pursuing more college degrees.[1]

Nationally, only about 24% of early college high school students graduate with an Associate Degree, or up to two years of college.[2] The four year average for CECHS is 54% with 113 of 209 students graduating with Associate Degrees to date.

The return on investment for CECHS has been considerable. The additional earning potential of graduates in the first four classes now reaches nearly $60 million based on college credits and degrees earned at CECHS.
