CCS Teacher Stresses the Benefits of Technology in Forbes Article   

Amanda Gillespie, a teacher at STEAMM Academy (at Canton City's Hartford Middle Shool), says "Through technology, including students using mobile devices in the classroom, I believe we can better engage students and help improve their performance in STEM, which will equip them with the digital-age skills for college and the workforce." Over 80% of Stark County's Dual Credit Students Go Directly to College

 

Stark County students who enroll in dual credit courses at their high schools are more likely to go to college than their peers, not only locally but also at the state and national level.

 College going comparison

A recent review of records[1] for 1,698 Stark County dual credit students graduating between 2009 and 2012 found that 82.4% subsequently enrolled in college. That percentage far exceeds the overall college-going rate in Ohio at 62.7% , the nation at 68.2% and even Stark County's two year enrollment rate at 73%.[2]

 

Stark County is able to track outcomes for its dual credit students as all districts subscribe to the National Student Clearinghouse Student Tracker System[3] enabling them to gauge the college success of their graduates.
