10 YEARS, ONE MONTH AND COUNTING
Celebrate Halloween AND Our 10th Anniversary with live music by The Ladyz & The Boyz, family fun run, pet costume contest, car show and free ice cream at Bartow's Friday Fest on Oct 17, 6-9pm
Popular cover band The Ladyz & The Boyz have been a crowd favorite for over 8 years.  We've invited them back for our Spooktacular 10th Anniversary celebration.

Last month we offered the top 10.5 reasons to come to Main Street Bartow's Friday Fest. Here's the 11th: It didn't happen!  Rain delayed the celebration of Friday Fest's 10th anniversary until this month, on Oct. 17, from 6-9 p.m. Forecasters predict sunny weather, great music from The Ladyz & The Boyz, yummy eats, cool cars, fun activities, free ice cream and balloons and 10-cent draft beer (limited to certain times and quantities).

We won't repeat the history behind Friday Fest that we shared in the last newsletter, but we will reiterate o

Lulu (aka Frakenweenie) and her mom, Maria Trippe, are sad, because Lulu is on bed-rest for an injury and won't be able to compete in this year's Pet Costume Contest. Fellow competitors are rumored to be smiling uncontrollably. - Photo by Peggy Kehoe

ne important point: We sure have had a lot of fun over the last 10 years and it wouldn't have happened without sponsors, staff and volunteers. Thank you to everyone!

This month's street party is co-sponsored by Bartow's Crickette Club, Junior Service League, Kiwanis Club, and Rotary Club. It will feature activities for children, the Crickette Club cake walk, the Junior Service League Fun Run, the open cruise-in for classic cars, food and drinks from vendors on the street and from downtown restaurants.

A must-see and must-do for owners of patient pets: The annual pet costume contest, with judging at 7 p.m.

Grumpy Cat, Little Bub and more. Don't miss Central Florida's First Internet Cat Video Film Fest featuring all your favorite cat videos.

Bartow leads the world in so many ways, and now the City of Oaks and Azaleas will be the first in Central Florida to host a cultural phenomenon.

It's true! The Impurrial Polk County Internet Cat Film Festival, presented by Main Street Bartow, will be in Downtown Bartow on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 4-9 p.m.

If you've never been on the Internet or watched "America's Funniest Videos" on television, you may not know about cat videos. But you will after Nov. 22, and it will give you something to be grateful for on Thanksgiving.

Event organizer Trish Pfeiffer says, "It's not about watching cat videos; it's about watching Internet cat videos together." But it's about so much more: Festival  "cativities" will include feline face painting, mewsic, photo booth pictures, a cat costume contest for humans and a people's choice award for the crowd's favorite cat video. The cat celebration will include a showing of "dog-shaming" photos, which should a-mews feline fanciers.

Spectators are encouraged to participate in the "

pawsitively fetching picnic on the lawn,

"a rather dignified affair worthy of the most beloved feline, by bringing their own table and chairs (centerpiece optional, but suggested) and pre-ordering box dinners from one of the local restaurants downtown.

This free family festival is a "leave your pets at home" event so that none of our furry friends accidentally get loose or stressed out.

More activities are in the works for the event sponsored by
Pet Supermarket and
Simply Storage.

Interested vendors and sponsors may contact Main Street Bartow at 863-519-0508 for more information.
