CONNECTIONS

At Bridges Together, we're all about "connections" -- in fact, it's a key part of our mission statement:

Bridges Together's mission is to educate, empower and
connect
generations in order to transform lives today and tomorrow.

Why is connection to others vital? We believe that intergenerational programs are a vaccination against ageism and a prescription for longevity. Read on for 5 ways that Bridges Together promotes CONNECTION.

Connecting Over Brunch

Save the Date! On Sunday, April 2 at 12 pm, we will be celebrating Bridges Together Inc.'s 5th Birthday as well as the 25th Birthday of the Bridges program. Please plan on joining us at Longfellow's Wayside Inn for a special morning to support the intergenerational connections that Bridges Together creates. Click here for a recap of last year's spectacular event!

Connecting Socially

While we would love to connect with you in person ( here are ways to do that), did you know that Bridges Together regularly posts and shares intergenerational news on our social media channels?

"Intergenerational" has become a hot and trending topic and we're excited to share news to showcase not just what we're up to at Bridges Together, but how society at large is handling demographic changes and creating a more integrated environment.

Take a moment to connect with us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to keep on top of intergenerational issues locally and globally.

Connecting Emerging Adults and Older Adults

Bridges: Lifelong Journey participants at a holiday celebration in December
Yup, you read that right: "Emerging adults" is a term now used to describe people ages 18-25. And Bridges Together connects this demographic with older adults too! Since September, we've been facilitating Bridges: Lifelong Journeys with a group of high school students and adult volunteers at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. (This program is funded by The Sudbury Foundation.)

Although we consider the Lifelong Journeys curricula a "tool kit" for youth about to embark on the next steps in their journeys, the older adult volunteers say it's perfect for them too. Click here to read more about Bridges: Lifelong Journeys and our volunteers, one of whom says, "I'm getting as much out of this as the kids are...I'm so excited for how Bridges is spreading!"

Connecting Communities

Members of Barnstable's Community-Wide Intergenerational Leadership Team with Bridges Together Founder and Executive Director Andrea J. Fonte Weaver
Barnstable is the fourth community to receive its training for the Community-Wide Intergenerational Leadership Team grant! Read all about Barnstable's big intergenerational plans here.

Bridges Together is thrilled to witness community representatives, organizations and leaders unite for the greater "intergenerational good." How? Because of BT's Community-Wide Intergenerational Leadership Team grant, five Massachusetts towns are receiving training and ongoing support to create a successful intergenerational enterprise in their own communities, specific to its needs.

Read about other grant recipients -- Ashalnd, South Hadley and West Boylston -- here.

  Connecting With Leaders

Bridges Together is going places! Here are some exciting collaborations:
