WEEKLY PROGRESS REPORT:
It's Great to be a Democrat!

The past 10 days have been inspiring. We've had a convention, a "Dump Trump" protest, and the 10th Annual DCDP Johnson-Jordan Dinner.

The Texas Democratic Party Convention was held from June 16th to 18th in San Antonio. Approximately 10,000 delegates throughout the state attended, and Dallas County was well represented.

Many Dallas County candidates won seats as national delegates, members of the State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC), and/or as members of Texas Democratic Party (TDP) committees. These newly elected representatives are listed on the TDP website. To each I say: "Congratulations! We are proud of you, and we know you will represent us well."

As delegates were making their way to San Antonio, Donald Trump was trying to find a place for his Dallas rally. Evidently the American Airlines Center was not available this time, and the City Councils of Grand Prairie and Irving turned him down as well. He ended up at Gilley's Club, which hosted President Barack Obama's's event a few months earlier. The DCDP helped get out the word about the protest. It was reported that 2,500 "Trumpers" attended, which was not much more than the number of protesters organized by LULAC, the  NAACP, Next Generation Network, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations. I am proud to report that it was a peaceful protest, and only one individual was arrested.

It will be hard to top the 10th Annual Johnson-Jordan Dinner held on June 20th at the Hyatt Regency. Keynote speaker David Axelrod was amazing. His advice was practical, realistic and encouraging for Texas Democrats. Almost 400 Democrats attended, and the DCDP netted over $150,000 to fund our highly effective coordinated campaign for the General Election.

Congratulations to the recipients of the awards presented at the Johnson-Jordan Dinner. These awards included:
* "Volunteers of the Year" - Joy Brady,  Erica Cole,  and Connie Cook
* "Booster of the Year" - Jeff Tillotson
* "Elected Official of the Year" - Judge Tonya Parker
* The "David Axelrod Award" - Jeff Dalton
* The Chair's Award", which was presented posthumously to Judge Phillis Lister Brown.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make the Johnson-Jordan Dinner such an amazing success, both financially and inspirationally. A good time was had by all!

If you have suggestions for the next Johnson-Jordan Dinner and/or if you are interested in helping to elect Democrats in the upcoming General Election. Here are some additional ways you can help:
