From Gina's Desk:

Summer is here and we’re in full swing with activity in Twentynine Palms.  Here at the Chamber of Commerce, we’re getting ready for the great 4th of July Celebration at Luckie Park.  While you're at the celebration, stop by the Chamber of Commerce booth to see our very own Ursula Gilmore, Executive Director.  She’ll be handing out new information about Chamber memberships and we’ll also  be raffling off great prizes!  Some of the prizes will be two Palm Springs Arial Tram admissions, a family four-pack from The Living Desert Zoo/Gardens and admission for four to Palm Springs Art Museum.   It promises to be a great day of food, music and fun. The grand finale will, of course, be the biggest fireworks display in the Morongo Basin.  We look forward to seeing you there!

As a new resident of Twentynine Palms, I am impressed at how much we treasure our children here. I see it in all the thoughtful activities offered for children to keep them stimulated and happy over a long hot summer break.  You can find many of those activities here in our newsletter every week and here’s only a partial list:

Joshua Tree National Park – Evening Campfire Programs

Take your kids to “Tortoise Takes or “The Dark Side of Joshua Tree National Park” (creatures who come out after dark)

How about packing a picnic lunch and going up to Sky's the Limit Observatory and Nature Center or go in the evening to simply star gaze at our beautiful evening sky.

And how about a visit to 29 Palms Creative Center & Gallery, early morning walks in our spectacular back yard of Joshua Tree National Park, or take an instrument class at Pandora’s Box… there’s no time for boredom in Twentynine Palms!

For some adult fun, come on over to the Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce for the “Summer Nights” Art in Public Places Reception, July 7, 5:30-7:00pm. See great art and mingle with the artists with live music in the background. We hope to see you there.
