People Profile

Laura Houck first came to Snowlion Rep's attention at the Southern Maine Combined Auditions in Westbrook, and we quickly snapped her up to play Cassandra of Troy in a PLAYLAB reading of Ann Tracy's Orestes 3.0.  We knew Laura had the acting talent for leading roles, and we actually chose to produce A Child's Guide to Innocence in part because we knew we had an actress to play the challenging lead role.

Laura moved to Maine several years ago with her family of people and pets after 25 years in New York City. And no, she doesn't miss it. (Well, maybe the take out.) She holds a BFA in Acting from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Her training is varied and includes studying with George Grizzard, Vasek Simek, Richard Scanlon, and the HB Studio. She is a co-founder of The Working Group, and has performed at the New York International Fringe Festival, New York Performance Works, The Gallery Players, The Drama Workshop, Acadia Repertory Theatre and The Penobscot Theatre Company. She is a member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA.

Don't miss Laura's stirring performance in A Child's Guide to Innocence opening this Friday!

Three generations of Italian-American women humorously and poignantly grapple with life, loss, and the path to happiness in the New England premiere of Vincent Sessa's lovely, lyrical drama A Child's Guide to Innocence.  The New York Times hailed the play, calling it "as delicate and nuanced a drama as you'll find, its three actresses telling a sublime intergenerational tale beautifully... It's a lovely portrait of how ordinary lives can be defined by a few pivotal moments, of how the world's great events can have a profound impact at a very small, personal level."

Directed by Al D'Andrea, A Child's Guide to Innocence will be performed at the Ludcke Auditorium on the Portland campus of the University of New England, at 716 Stevens Avenue, Portland. The show opens Friday March 15 at 8:00 p.m. and plays for 2 weekends only:

Friday March 15 at 8 p.m.

Saturday March 16 at 8 p.m.

Sunday March 17 at 2 p.m.

Friday March 22 at 8 p.m.
