We can't possibly stress it enough. 75% of the country has had their cars in hibernation for months. And, as much as we know you like to go for a spirited romp on the first nice day,
DON'T.
You have work to do.
Here's your checklist:
Visual. Look the car over, end to end...top to bottom. Check the engine bay for nests of critters. While you're in there, check all fluids. Now, go air up your tires.
Wash me. Yes, wash your car and make sure and get those winter mats out of there for safety's sake. Clean the glass, inside and out. Make sure all the switches, buttons and levers do what they're supposed to. Seriously, a pilot wouldn't fly a plane without doing a pre-flight and you shouldn't either.
Gas Pains. We hear it every year about this time; "My car sounds like it's knocking, will your tune fix it?" Uh, nope. Running that deteriorated fuel out of the car is your first step to rediscovered power. You've been running "winter blend" fuel and it's been sitting. We know it's tough, but keep your foot out of it until you get rid of the bad stuff and fill up with some fresh fuel. Oh, and it's going to still be winter blend for the next month or so. If you put Sta-Bil or some other additive in it be VERY careful til it's gone.
You're welcome.
