As always, the team at Peoples' Self-Help Housing has been incredibly busy working together on a number of exciting projects that will give more people the opportunity to live, learn and thrive in a supportive environment.  And because of the very supportive community we work within, I just wanted to take this opportunity to define who makes up "the team".

I was recently invited to sit on a national panel where I was able to share that we worked with 75+ collaborating organizations! From foodbanks to fellow affordable housers; from in home social service providers to after school tutors, along with my staff, we helm a dedicated network of tireless partners all committed to improving the lives of our neighbors on the Central Coast.

It's this broad network that makes what we do possible and it is only with  the help of all our partners - corporate sponsors, sister nonprofits, countless volunteers, generous donors - that we are able to lift up those in need and address the critical housing challenges facing our state and nation.

The resources we all share, the ideas we bring to the collective table, the talent we harness and deploy in service to the poor makes a huge impact on the quality of life for so many people locally. Please know that however you contribute, your passion for helping others does not go unnoticed; c onsider yourself part of "the team", consider yourself the very foundation for our success.

San Miguel Welcomes Newest Neighbors
After 14 months of hard work, the big day finally arrived for families with dreams of home ownership.   Thanks to the PSHH Home Owner Builder Program, and a lot of incredibly hard work, eight low-income families recently received keys to their self-built homes.

President & CEO John Fowler, board members, staff and other guests were on hand to welcome them to the neighborhood and to offer congratulations for this momentous accomplishment.

Annette Rocks!
Annette Huggard knows a little bit about what it takes to build your own house - twenty years ago, she did just that through the "sweat equity" Home Ownership Builder Program, and moved into Spring Meadows.

Keeping up the family tradition, Annette's b rother has followed her lead and received the keys to his new home, built under the same program, but in San Miguel.

As a beautiful gesture, not just to her brother, but to all the new residents,  Annette decorated 'welcome rocks' to display in everyone's front yards. What a beautiful gesture to her fellow builders - if you'd like to know how you can join this amazing program,  click here
Pacific Premier Banking on Student Futures
When it comes to building a healthy life filled with opportunity, Pacific Premier Bank is banking on the bright futures of students.

"This amazing gift from Pacific Premier Bank is an investment in education that will pay dividends for years to come," said President and CEO John Fowler. "As I like to say, we are not just building houses, we are building futures."

Caring Volunteers Lend a Helping Hand

At United Way's Day of Caring 2017 volunteers were more than happy to get their hands a little dirty to make their community a little brighter!

Playing their part by washing windows at Valentine Court in Santa Maria, more than 1,400 volunteers across Santa Barbara County pitched in to help with various improvement projects.
