Young Voices-Authentic Student Voice Matters

On March 27th, our youth presented to more than 700 educators at the New England Secondary Schools Consortium!  They spoke about how they partner with their principals to improve low-performing high schools.  Here's the video that was shown during their presentation:

And on April 13th,  Xilian Sansoucy, our youth Board Co-Chair, was the keynote speaker at the RI Kidscount Factbook Breakfast!  She gave an amazing speech in front of a crowd of 500 that included members of congress, the House leadership, and Governor. Her speech focused on the work of the Providence Youth Caucus, a citywide body of youth leaders, which is pushing for more student centered learning and fair and effective discipline practices.  Read it here...

And on top of that, Young Voices member Perla Castillo has been a key player on the student Design Team that is informing the creation of a brand new high school for the Providence Public School District-a school where students are inspired, engaged, and have meaningful decision-making power in how they learn and how the school operates. This effort has been funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Please help to ensure that our youth can continue to become extraordinary leaders who make a real impact.  Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Trimix Foundation, every dollar you donate will be doubled until June 30!
