Did You Know?

St. Patrick's Day used to be a dry holiday. For most of the 20th century, Saint Patrick's Day was considered a strictly religious holiday in Ireland, which meant that the nation's pubs were closed for business on March 17. The one exception went to beer vendors at the big national dog show, which was always held on Saint Patrick's Day. In 1970, the day was converted to a national holiday, and the stout resumed flowing.

ExecSuite was privileged to received another award from our partners at Oakwood during the CHPA (Corporate Housing Providers Association) conference in Huntington Beach this month. The 'Spirit of Partnership' award was presented by Maria Schmitt and Miguel Tosoni of Oakwood and accepted by ExecSuite President, Michael Stern (pictured below).

Celebrated annually on March 30, the unofficial holiday encourages people to get active and enjoy the physical and mental benefits that come from walking in nature.

Studies have shown that walking for 30 minutes a day can have huge health benefits. Walking outside can not only help you get your daily dose of vitamin D, but can also lower the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancers. It can also increase heart activity and lower blood pressure.

Walking in nature - away from the dust and pollution of streets and cars - can boost moods and reduce stress. Studies have shown that people who hike or walk in green areas tend to be happier than those who don't.

CHPA is the only trade association dedicated exclusively to the corporate housing industry. The association continually strives to uphold the highest standards in business and professionalism; provide valuable insight, knowledge and resources to the industry; and raise visibility among related industries. As the industry continues to get increased attention, CHPA and Canadian members are working together to support pending regulations and legislation.
