Will The Fury or Manic Attackers Prevail?
May 25, 2012 - June 2nd will be an unforgettable night at the UIC Pavilion as the Windy City Rollers home teams take to the track one last time to award the 2012 Ivy King Cup league champions.
The undercard bout, starting at 6 p.m., will be an exhibition “black vs. white” scrimmage of two teams formed from a mix of WCR All-Stars, Hell’s Belles, Double Crossers, and Haymarket Rioters. Lead by returning Guest Captain Joe Klug and newcomer Seidely Whiplash, the White Zombies IV and the VaudeVillians will compete in our annual charity bout to benefit Tequila Mockingbird, a former WCR skater who suffered a spinal cord injury.
The main showdown will begin at 7:30 p.m., as The Fury defends their two-year-running title as Ivy King Cup champions against the hopeful Manic Attackers. While the Manics have held a perfect winning record this season, the defending champions have suffered a few setbacks due to a slew of retirements at the end of the 2011 season. But, if the gameplay witnessed during the playoff is any indication of how talented and focused these two teams are, this will be a bruiser with constant lead changes until the final whistle blows.
