J-WISE

We are excited to announce that J-WISE, the Jewish Wisconsin Initiative for a Sustainable Environment will soon begin!  The initial event will be held:

 

Thursday, May 15, 2014

6:30 - 9pm

 Daniel M. Soref Community Hall  

of the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center located on the Karl Jewish Community Campus

  

This event will feature a keynote presentation by Rabbi Shlomo Levin who will demonstrate how Jewish textual insights can inform planning for a sustainable environment.  Other sessions will share information for assisting action planning for a sustainable Jewish community.  This event is free and open to all.

2013-2014 Annual School Census 

 

CJL has completed its annual census of enrollment in Jewish schools. The data shows a decline in enrollment which continues the pattern of recent years.

Free Jewish Film Series
at the Harry and Rose Samson Family JCC features various films with themes like international Jewry and Isreali short films.  This film series runs through May 22.     MORE INFORMATION



Art from the Ashes: Finding Light in the Shadow of the Shoah remains on display on the 4th floor of UWM's Golda Meir Library until May 30.  This exhibit features the art of Helene Fischman, an MFA candidate for UWM's Department of Art & Design, who honors the lives lost in the Shoah with her artwork.    MORE INFORMATION



Jews Who Rock: A Musical History Tour has had its debut and is off and running at the Jewish Museum Milwaukee until August 10.  This unique exhibit looks at influential Jews in rock & roll.        MORE INFORMATION

TRIP: Teacher Recognition & Incentive Program  
Educators develop a professional growth plan based on a self assessment of their own strengths and weaknesses.  CJL grants financial assistance to help educators carry out their professional growth plans.  For more information email

 

CSI-Milwaukee 

is CJL's Congregational School Initiative! The program includes: classes for teachers, seminars for educational directors, grants, school assessments, curriculum writing, and consultation.

 

CJL is excited to announce that educators participating in CSI-Milwaukee will soon be able to enroll in online classes from Gratz College.  These offerings are specifically designed for religious school teachers.  Details to follow! 

 

CSI-Milwaukee is a partnership between the Coalition for Jewish Learning, the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, and Congregations Beth Israel Ner Tamid, Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun, Emanu-El of Waukesha, Shalom, and Sinai.

for full-time and part-time, as well as in-residence and online applicants is May 1, 2014 with rolling admissions through August.  Scholarships are available!
