Thank you for volunteering at JA JobSpark 2017!
Preparations for JA JobSpark 2018 are in full swing! Each month we
will share program updates and "spotlights" as well as information about
JA of Central Indiana to keep our connections strong.
Behind the Scenes...
Planing fo r JA JobSpark i s complex! Over 150 volunteers dedicate countless hours and a multitude of resources to make sure every detail is figured out before students arrive on September 25 & 26.

Cluster meetings are held monthly to plan hands-on experiences connected to career pathways.

Additionally, JA staff works with the following teams on a monthly basis:

  • Steering Team provides strategic guidance to ensure decisions are aligned with the overall vision and purpose.
  • Educator Sub Team guides curriculum development and serves as the connection between JA and school administrators to arrange for student & educator participation.
  • Volunteer Venue & Logistics Sub Team plans event operations- layout and design, t-shirt & material pick-up, buses, event flow, volunteer registration and assignments, evaluation.
  • Marketing Sub Team creates visual impact with materials and raises community awareness of JA JobSpark through press releases, news articles & marketing campaigns.
  • Sponsorship Sub Team identifies potential sponsors and cultivates existing partnerships.
Volunteer Spotlight
Stephen Hopkins, Eli Lilly and Company, first became involved wtih JA JobSpark as a planning team member of the Business & Finance cluster. This year Stephen serves as Cluster Co-Chair and has also joined the Venue, Volunteer & Logistics Sub Team. His insights on management and leadership are invaluable!

Career Clusters
JA JobSpark centers around 8 career clusters. Career clusters are groups of careers that share common themes or require similar skills and represent pathways defined by Indiana Department of Workforce Development as industries in need of an educated and skilled workforce in coming years.
