mayedaJACL Responds to Anti-Asian Behavior in World Series Games

Los Angeles, CA - On November 1, 2017 the JACL joined a coalition of Asian American organizations to address and convey their outrage at the delayed punishment of Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel. 

 

The press conference was held in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, at the Japanese American National Museum.  The group expressed their disappointment in the decision by MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred to delay the punishment.

hawaii'Courage and Compassion: Our Shared Story of the Japanese American WWII Experience' - Exhibit to Hawaii
 

Honolulu, HI - The   Go For Broke National Education Center along with the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i, is presenting 'Courage and Compassion: Our Shared Story of the Japanese American WWII Experience' a travelling exhibition. The exhibition presents the experiences of Japanese Americans during World War II and will include little-known local stories from Hawaii.  

Honolulu is the second out of ten cities that are included on the exhibition's tour. The exhibition is scheduled for Nov. 11-Dec. 9, 2017.

Los Angeles, CA- On November 9, 2017 Lincoln High School is set to commemorate Medal of Honor receipient Sadao S. Munemori, an alumnus of the school. The Veteran's day celebration will include a memorial dedication honoring Munemori.

Annual Veterans Day Ceremony in Washington, D.C. 

The Annual Veterans Day Ceremony  at the  National Japanese American Memorial to Patriotism in WWII on  November  11 at 2:00 pm. The distinguished speaker will be  Lieutenant General Michael K. Nagata,  Director of the directorate of Strategic Operational Planning at the  National Counterterrorism Center. The  National Japanese American Memorial to Patriotism in WWII is  located at the intersection of New Jersey Avenue, Louisiana Avenue, and D Street.
