Isabel received bad news--she was not accepted to the university where she applied. Rather than giving up, she decided to interview for a job at the Tesla Gigafactory in Reno/Sparks. At first, she was uncertain, but decided to give it a try. With her JAG Specialist's coaching and help (Ms. Cristina Sa), Isabel's interview was a success and she was hired!

Now came the hard part--moving. Her mother and uncle helped her relocate to Reno/Sparks, and JAG in partnership with the One Stop Career Center assisted Isabel with the cost and process of relocation.

During her first weeks in Reno, loneliness overcame her, but she stuck with her job, her family and her JAG Specialist, and began to make friends. Isabel reports that her Tesla family cares about her as a person, and that the pay, benefits and opportunities for the future are amazing! She is really enjoying pursuing her career goals as she works and goes to school.

Being on the line at the Gigafactory and working alongside engineers, sparked Isabel's interest in engineering. "This work woke up a different side of me and opened up a whole new world." Now Isabel is attending Truckee Meadows Community College, learning coding, and she now aspires to become an engineer and continue her work at Tesla.
