VINTAGE ONE. Redefining wine in the city.
JANUARY 2011

Fellow wine lover,

A brand new year and we look forward to continuing to delivering great experiences to you through our city winery.

We can't wait until the end of summer when the deep reds we made with Argentine winemaker Lucas Mendoza will be ready. We used new Hungarian oak and American dark toast barrels to produce what we expect will be exceptional Carmenere, Malbec and Tannat.

The Yaniv Hason photography exhibit in December at the winery was a great success with over 150 people coming out to see the show. If you missed it, the images are now online at www.yanivhason.com.

How does our chief winemaker keep warm during the Canadian winter? She runs off to Argentina to join the harvest. She'll be revisiting with Lucas Mendoza and touring the vineyards, choosing the best of the harvest to bring back to V1.

Until we see you next, drink lots of wine to stay warm.

Salud,

Alejandra & the V1 Team

New year's resolution: Never run out of wine

V1 barrelsStart 2011 off right and sign up for our Barrel Futures.

Join in with friends, family, coworkers, or simply others who have a common passion for wine.

Every month a new varietal is vented in a 225 litre barrel or tank. The overall cost of grapes, oak, bottling and labeling are equally shared among the Barrel Futures group members.

As a member, you bring home a case of new, different, award-worthy wine each month. It's the perfect opportunity to try new wines without the commitment to an entire barrel.

Sharing barrels among our valued customers allows our winemakers to create highly crafted specialty vintages using the purest, most natural grapes and old-world vinification traditions- techniques too difficult to employ for smaller batches.

For 2011 stock your cellar with a selection of barrel-aged premium quality wines, but for a fraction of the cost. Prices range from $80 to $200 per month. Call now to sign up for a year of Barrel Futures.

Treat your taste buds

Here's a couple of great offerings for you and your friends to enjoy during these winter months.

Olive Oil & Balsamic Tastings

You've heard of wine tastings - now try olive oil and balsamic tastings.

You know us for wine but our De Miguel family has also developed a line of vinegars. Including balsamic vinegar, a balsamic reduction and a Tarragon infused Malbec wine vinegar. Add our Argentinean and Sicilian extra virgin olive oils and you have the ingredients to elevate your next dinner party.

GaTastingther a group of friends at the winery and let us guide you through a tasting of olive oils and vinegars, flavour notes, cooking techniques and health benefits. It's a unique tasting for you and your foodie friends. $30 per person, 10 people min.

Winemaker's Dinners

Gather a group of friends to join our chief winemaker Alejandra De Miguel and renowned chef John Cirillo for a winemakers dinner at Cirillo's Culinary Academy.

We'll start with a tour of our winery where Alejandra will take you through the winemaking process. Then the evening continues as chef Cirillo cooks an exquisite meal with your or for you and your guests. The chef and winemaker will work together to create a wine paired menu that is sure to stimulate your taste buds.

It will be an interactive evening where you will enjoy great food and wine, learn the importance of pairing food and wine, and deepen your appreciation for all the flavours. Dinners starting at $75 per person, 10 people min.
