Regarding God's Creation
Gen 7:19  The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains  everywhere under the heavens  were covered. ... 8:4  In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 The water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.   - NASU       (Bold emphasis added.)

G eology and the Flood by Geology PhDs

For the next six months the GHCA will study geology including the Genesis Flood via classroom lectures by the leading PhD geologists in the YEC movement.  These lectures, recorded during the IGH Conference in May 2017, brought together the top scientists and academic scholars advocating the YEC hypothesis.  These lectures have the
atmosphere of a college classroom presenting survey courses in each subject area.  I am very excited about this because it presents us with an opportunity to learn at a substantially deeper level than we have in the past. So, this series is an opportunity not to be missed.

Last month we started with an overview of the Biblical narrative and timeline for the Creation and Flood and some basic information about how all of that might relate to various areas of science with special attention to geology.  Many people found much in that presentation to unify and clarify the Biblical narrative and the way it relates to the physical creation around us .

On January 4th we will turn our attention to two brilliant lectures recorded by Dr. Kurt Wise at the Is Genesis History Conference last May.  The first lecture, titled Intro to Geology & Plate Tectonics, examines conventional geology's understanding of continental drift and plate
tectonics and the assumption that all is slow and gradual.  These theories tie together so much observed geological fact that conventional geologists are solidly convinced that slow gradual geological processes provide a solid framework for the study and understanding of geology.  They think that this framework is so solid that nothing else should be considered. We all need to understand this conventional viewpoint before we can claim to be well informed.  It also provides an excellent foundation for further exploration outside of their self-imposed box.

On February 15th Dr Wise will bring out a number of issues the conventional plate tectonic theory does not deal with well at all. These issues are generally not discussed in school textbooks, encyclopedias, or the media. These issues are apparently considered unmentionable.  But when the physical aspects of these issues are explained it becomes
clear that the only possible way to account for all of the evidence is for much of geological history to happen at vastly accelerated speeds. Much of the erosion and deposition in the geological column must have occurred at speeds a billion times faster than in the conventional understanding.  When these issues are dealt with, so as to accommodate the most geological evidence, the narrative of the Genesis Flood also falls into place geologically.

This is really very powerful and fascinating material!  It is well worth the effort to join us in person or online.  As always, we will pause at appropriate points in these recorded lectures for questions and discussion.  We will also pause to bring out the meaning of some technical jargon.  This is a great way to enhance our learning adventure and make
sure we understood and retain more.

Dr. Wise is a geologist specializing in paleontology.  He earned MA and PhD degrees in paleontology from Harvard University.  Wise founded the Center for Origins Research at Bryan College, led the Center for Theology and Science at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for 3 years, and founded and directed the Center for Creation Research and taught biology at Truett McConnell University

Examples of Important YEC Scientific Evidences

Some major examples of physical evidence we point to include:
  • Remains of original soft tissue still found in dinosaur bones. Along with that tissue is C-14 that would decay completely away in less than a hundred thousand years, a tiny fraction of the dinosaur fossil's supposed age.
  • For many years geologists have found C-14 in fossil carbon throughout the fossil record.
  • The origin of the information and molecular machinery in the first living self-reproducing cell remains a complete enigma for biologist and biochemists.
  • In the origin of the universe, big bang theory is being recognized as a dead end by increasing numbers of secular scientists. The hypothesized inflation has nothing to start it, drive it forward, or stop it. Without inflation fatal flaws appear with the absence of predicted antimatter, magnetic monopoles, or any means for the whole universe to come to the same precise background temperature. Then the formation of the first stars is as enigmatic as the origin of the first biological cell. Dark matter and dark energy are as enigmatic as the deep space motions they are needed to explain.
At the root of all standard science are many assumptions that may be quite incorrect. At the top is that there is no God. Another is that present process can be used to explain everything in the past. When we look at a canyon we are taught to assume the river at the bottom cut the canyon. But perhaps tectonic events made the canyon and there is a river at the bottom because water always flows downhill. At the root of big bang theory is a pure assumption that has been named the "Cosmological Principle". Perhaps inaccuracies there are responsible for the big bang's multitude of problems.

There is more about the role of assumptions in science found on our website here. There are many more resources on young earth and young universe evidences here.

Prayer Needs and Praises!

Flooding victims!  Among these is our own bookseller Tom Henderson. Pray for God's provision, enabling, and protection as they make recovery efforts.

Christians around the world are being persecuted and murdered to force them out of their homes or to change their faith. Pray for protection for and support from Christian organizations in the West.

John Morris  is said to be recovering well now. But continue to pray for John and all the leaders, researchers, and writers in the YEC community.

AIG, CMI, CRS, ICR, and LRA (Logos Research Ass.)  the big five YEC creation organizations doing active research, publication and speaking. Pray for inspiration, enabling and financing.
