Economic Indicat o r:  Juneau's Private Sector is Growing

Juneau's private sector is the total of firms with employees, self-employed individuals and independent contractors. After several stagnant years, Juneau's private sector participants grew by 6.6 percent between 2013 and 2015, and JEDC calculates continued growth of about 1.6 percent through 2016. The greatest business growth between 2011 and 2016 was in the Finance, Information, Real Estate, Health and Social Assistance, and Accommodation and Food industry sectors.

RECAP -- JEDC Partners with AEYC and DBA on Winter Windows

We were happy to participate in a Winter Windows campaign with the Downtown Business Association,  AEYC, and United Way.  About 13 businesses on South Franklin have drawings completed by children between 3-7. AEYC hosted a drawing contest with the theme, "What I love about growing up in Juneau." All the drawings are expressive and eye-catching! Go take a stroll down Franklin and enjoy the local art.
