October 2014

Dear Friends of the J. Kyle Braid Leadership Foundation,

For the past 20 years we have been able to provide profound leadership experiences to more than 3,000 students at the Colorado Ranch. We are proud to see the results of our mission manifest in our alums and we spend every day more and more amazed at how many of our "JKB Kids" are continuing to share Kyle's story and spread leadership skills and values through every avenue of life.

As many of you know, the time has come for the Ranch to close.  Though the Ranch doors are closing, the program, although now in different capacities, will live on. Ken & Colleen will be taking the values and priorities of the J. Kyle Braid Leadership Foundation and branching off into two separate organizations, opening new doors for Kyle's story to be shared.

The successful transition will require raising $40,000 in our year-end appeal to settle the remaining financial obligations of past summers. Many of you have contributed to the Foundation over the last 20 years and the success of the program would not have been possible without your generosity.

Please make a final year-end tax deductible donation to the J. Kyle Braid Leadership Foundation. We need your help in our effort to carry on the JKB mission. There are two ways to make a donation -

  • Go to JKBDonations.org and make a donation by credit card
  • Send a check made out to The J. Kyle Braid Leadership Foundation to Colleen Malany, 8617 Echo Grande Drive, Las Vegas, NV  89131

Finally, if you would like the additional information on Colleen or Ken's new programs under new foundations, our contact information is below.

Many, many thanks.

"It's been quite the experience to take everything we learned from the Ranch and put it to use in our own community. We've raised money for ALS and breast cancer research, put an end to bullying, and made our high school feel like a second home. We'd like to thank everyone who has associated themselves with J. Kyle Braid for making the world a better place."

- Lake Park High School,  JKB 2013 & 2014

"Being a part of the J. Kyle Braid program shaped who we were as high school athletes and still influences the choices we make and the opportunities we have every day. Each part of JKB - the skills, the opportunities, the connections and the friendships - has impacted our lives as college students and will no doubt continue to better our lives in the future."

- Aleisha Bozek, JKB 2010

(Blake, Aleisha and Jaime all went to different high schools and met through their involvement with JKB in 2010. They quickly became inseparable and all attend University of Illinois, set to graduate in 2016.)

"As a collegiate coach I have used what I learned about leadership from the Ranch and implemented it into my coaching, not only through the game of soccer, but also through teaching my players what it means to be a leader on and off the field. Though they don't know it, they are learning from the J. Kyle Braid Leadership Ranch as well."

- Sara (Johnson) Meyer, JKB 1999

"Our daughter's experience at the JKB Ranch allowed her to grow and develop in ways that otherwise may not have occurred until well into her college years. She acquired skills in emotional and interpersonal communication that connect her to her JKB friends in a unique way. We are forever filled with gratitude for the life changing influence in our daughter's life.
