On this day, June 4th, 1912....

The State of Massachusetts becomes the first state to pass a minimum wage law. Historians have pointed to a Boston lawyer named Louis Brandeis as one of the most important Americans involved in this effort. Almost four years later, President Woodrow Wilson appointed Louis Brandeis to the United States Supreme Court, making Brandeis the first Jewish member of the high court. Today, three Jewish Americans sit on the Supreme Court - Steven Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan.
