Greetings!

I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.

ON BECOMING AN IDEA CHAMPION

In Daniel Pink's
A Whole New Mind, a travel guide to the New Age of Ideas, he writes, "The future belongs to a very different kind of person with a very different kind of mind-creators and empathizers, pattern recognizers, and meaning makers. These people--artists, inventors, designers, storytellers, caregivers, consolers, big picture thinkers--will now reap society's richest rewards and share it's greatest joys."

Everyone gets ideas, of course, but not everyone knows how to bring them to life. That's precisely why I decided to volunteer as tour guide for the Idea Safari series.

For years, I've been exploring and experimenting in the jungles of wild ideas. In fact, I am on a crusade--rampage might be a more accurate description--to rescue abandoned and neglected ideas.

How do we learn to trust our ideas? Generate better ideas? Value the ones that come to us? How do we recognize when we're chasing them away? What do we do when we have an idea surplus? An idea shortage?

In this last Idea Safari of 2011 we'll be uncovering the tools and techniques that can take an idea in your head to being a reality in your life. And we're starting by staring down the biggest enemy of success--resistance.

OUTSMARTING RESISTANCE

I was always vaguely aware of resistance (which frequently shows up as procrastination or avoidance) for a long time, but it wasn't until I read The War of Art by Steven Pressfield that I realized what a subtle and insidious opponent it is. Resistance wears many disguises-many of them quite cunning and clever.

Once you recognize how it works (and it's a bit different for each of us), you can learn to move forward in spite of it. In this Idea Safari excursion I'll show you how to recognize resistance, how to starve it and roar back at resistance when it threatens to undermine your grandest dreams.

When you know how to outsmart resistance, it may quietly slink away, freeing up your energy to bring your ideas to life.

BUILDING A HOTHOUSE FOR YOUR DREAMS

When we're excited by a new idea, it's easy to forget how fragile it is. There are all sorts of dangers lurking, including the one that the late writer Erma Bombeck pointed out. She said, "Dreams only have one owner at a time. That's why dreamers often feel lonely."

In this Idea Safari, we'll find ways to remedy the difficulties that occur when our fragile embryo of an idea is struggling to come to life. I'll show you how to prepare the healthiest, liveliest and richest environment for growing your dreams.

We'll also explore the six essentials that belong in your hothouse that will absolutely guarantee your projects flourish and thrive.

STALKING SUCCESS

We end our Idea Safari series with an exploration of success. How do we recognize it when it arrives in our personal habitat? What do we do with it? Most importantly, how do we abandon employee thinking and put an entrepreneurial mindset to work?

You'll leave this Idea Safari with a backpack full of power tools that you can use over and over again to build, remodel and restore your own vision of the Joyfully Jobless life.
