Game of the Week
B15 Premier v East Bay United
The JSSA boys U15s took on a familiar foe, East Bay United, Sunday afternoon at Olin College as they turned around a defeat in the fall to a smashing season-opening 7-0 win. The boys started off on the right foot this spring from the first whistle with non-stop pressure against East Bay. Superb play from newcomer Eduardo Castro in the midfield led to a couple great chances with the help of another newcomer, but familiar last name, James Layden. The boys were shut down for most of the first half from outstanding play from the East Bay netminder, but finally found the back of the net with 15 minutes to play in the half. Castro had a good opportunity to score, but was foiled from a brilliant team save from the East Bay defenders; however, that chance was followed up by Omar Lema for his first goal of the season. A high pressure mentality kept the JSSA boys with the upper-hand for the rest of the game with goals from Eduardo Castro, midfielder Asmir Hukanovic, and to top it off, a 40 yard blast from center-back Michael Boone. The JSSA defense held their own to keep out the East Bay attack all game and gave goalkeeper Matthew Sexton his first shutout of the season who came up with a big breakaway save late in the second-half to keep his goose egg. The boys look forward to their next opponent after the small April break and take on Nashoba FC in Lancaster on the 23rd of April.
