INAUGURAL ALASKA-KAMCHATKA FLIGHT
|
| Seymour Moose, Anchorage's goodwill ambassador, will greet passengers on Yakutia Air's inaugural flight |
Yakutia Air's first flight from Anchorage to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky departs at 7:30 AM July 12, from the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, North Terminal. Travelers are encouraged to check-in early so they have plenty of time to participate in the inaugural festivities, have some cake and get their photo taken with Anchorage's Seymour Moose.
Yakutia Airlines is proud to renew this important link between Russia and the US, and return Alaska to its rightful place as a gateway to the Russian Far East. The flights open up many opportunities for fishermen and adventure travelers, and greater cultural and economic ties are expected to follow.
"We are very excited to have Yakutia Airlines providing seasonal service to Eastern Russia," stated Trudy Wassel, Business Manager for Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. "It's great to be opening up a new market for passenger and cargo service."
The flights, to be operated on a codeshare basis with Vladivostok Air, will run weekly from July 12 to September 13. The 737-700 aircraft that will serve the route are configured with business and economy classes. Advance purchase pricing is available from $1990 round trip (all taxes and fees included). Transit fares and discounts for children and students are also available.

Kamchatka is home to many indigenous peoples, including the Koryaks, Itelmens, and Evens. While visiting Kamchatka, consider exploring ethnographic indoor and outdoor sites, including the open-air museum Itelmen Village "Pimchakh", and Kainyran Native Center, among others. Ethnic village Kainyran (Bear's Corner) will introduce you to the history, culture, and lifestyles of Kamchatka's indigenous peoples. Located on the bank of the lake, Kainyran provides spectacular views of the famous Koryak and Avacha volcanoes. Storytelling and dance performances by Kamchatka natives are among visitors' favorite activities. You will also have an opportunity to learn basic dance moves, be photographed in traditional costumes, sample national cuisine, and more.
