Regional Transit Authority Task Force
Regional Transit  
ACOG continues its work on the Regional Transit Authority in collaboration with the RTA Task Force members. Later this month, staff will interview consultants competing to provide legal and technical assistance to the RTA. This includes establishing the geo-political structure of the Authority. The consultant will be selected in August. 
  

Rural Economic Action Plan
REAP Workshop August 3
ACOG will host a Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) workshop for members on August 3. REAP grants require 
no match and may fund projects such as road and street construction or repair; drainage projectsrural highway improvementscounty bridge construction or repair and/or industrial access road construction or repair among other specific transportation projects.

Budget Woes
ACOG's Federal Programs At Risk
Three popular ACOG programs, all funded by the federal government, face the possibility of elimination and/or significant cuts in the federal budget for fiscal year 2018. The programs include: 

ACOG members are encouraged to contact their U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives to advocate for these programs. 



9-1-1 Training Institute
Stress Management 
The 9-1-1 Training Institute at ACOG will host Stress Management training on August 28. Dispatchers will learn how to deal effectively with the stress of working in a commu-nication center. The class is FREE to all ACOG members.

Ozone Alert Days
ACOG, in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, has issued two Ozone Alert Days so far this season. 


CEDS Meeting Scheduled
Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for Central Oklahoma
A meeting of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Committee for Central Oklahoma will meet at ACOG on September 14. The Oklahoma Alliance for Economic Development will make a presentation on the Page Woodson project. 


Clean Cities Vision Awards
Alt Fuel Leaders Recognized by ACOG 
Heartland Energy Options and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (OWDC) were honored with the 2016 Zach D. Taylor, Jr. Clean Cities Vision Awards during a recent ceremony at ACOG. The annual celebration was sponsored by ACOG and OG+E.


9-1-1 ACOG
Mike Davis Appointed to GIS Committee
Mike Davis was recently appointed to the State Geographic Information Systems Council. He will represent the Oklahoma Association of Regional Councils until November 2020. His appointment was signed by Governor Mary Fallin. Congratulations, Mike!
