We have a fun 2014-2015 season coming up!  Jack's Angels is honored to be one of the charity beneficiaries of the 2015 Santa Colorita Run on Valentine's Day, and so happy to be able to present the first ever "Skip for Jack!"  Online t-shirt sales are coming soon to support Jack's Angels for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month--September--for which we're going to Washington D.C.! Jack's Angels main meeting to get the season started is Friday, August 22nd at 5pm, potluck and pool party in Acton.  Call us at 661-977-3125 to rsvp, for directions and other details :)
We had a quiet summer and observed "Yellow Balloon Day" for Jack on July 30th.  Thank you so much to those who thought of us, sent pictures of yellow balloons, released balloons for Jack, and of course to those who were able to come out to celebrate Jack's life with us.

Potluck and Pool Party for Jack's Angels and those who would like to see our work continue in this area, discussing volunteer and leadership needs, and of course upcoming projects like the Children's Choir with Center Stage Opera coming in October!  Also for discussion will be the "Skip for Jack!" event at the Santa Colorita Run 2/14/15, and "Art for Jack", tentatively slated for Sunday May 3, 2015.  LA City Fun-Run for DIPG Awareness!--Saturday August 30th 5pm
Join us and gather at the Federal Building, 11111 Wilshire Blvd. at 4:30 to run at 5pm to the Santa Monica Pier!  Wings and banners optional...  Since it is Jack's 6th birthday, we'll celebrate with chocolate cake and fun at Pacific Park!  If you would like to join the fun, either running or playing with us afterwards, call the organizer Janet at 661-977-3125.  The more the merrier!  We're gearing-up for September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month when we'll run Washington D.C. September 17th!
Subcommittee meetings for Santa Colorita!
Tentatively the VOLUNTEER Subcommittee will have its first meeting Wednesday, September 10, 3-4pm, at the SCV Chamber of Commerce.  This meeting is for all those interested in volunteering for the big event Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015.   The "Skip for Jack" Subcommittee first meeting will be Friday, September 5th 4-5pm at the Chamber of Commerce.  This is for all those involved with the "Skip for Jack!" at the big event.  Please check the Calendar at www.jacksangels.org for updates and changes.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!
Wednesday, September 17 the "Jackangel" will be running for DIPG awareness in our Nation's Capital!  Starting at Capitol Hill, the runners will take a circuitous route through the city; details will be posted at www.jacksangels.org by the end of August.  Support us on facebook and twitter!  Online t-shirt sales start September 1st to support Jack's Angels and the DIPG research fund at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Also, we will be participating in the Agua Dulce Country Fair Parade this year, September 20!  We won't be working a booth at the fair but we will be putting together another angel float with balloons, flowers, candy throwing, and of course angels!  If you and/or your child would like to participate, contact us!
   
Children's Choir
Jack's Angels is collaborating with Center Stage Opera to bring a new children's choir to the Acton-Agua Dulce School District and SCV.  The choir will incorporate voices K-8 with the goal of participation in professional stage productions with Center Stage Opera.  We're fortunate to have a great community opera company in our midst, and to have this opportunity for our children!  District meeting takes place August 18th.  Assemblies for presentation and registration TBA in September.
Looking ahead to May
Due to popular demand, our next "Art for Jack" event, featuring art workshops for children (with no suggested donations for art classes) and performances from featured artists and local children, is tentatively set for Sunday, May 3.  Location and other details will be available after the first of the New Year.  We are open to suggestions and invite new participation in the planning of this fun event!

A reminder that, coming up is the Agua Dulce Country Fair Saturday, September 20th in which we are participating again this year!  If you and/or your child would like to be included in our float as supporting angels, throw candy and wave to the crowd, contact us!  It's a really fun time.  We appreciate your support!
