Kidsbloom Block Party 2017

Dear Salisbury Academy Families:

Join us on Friday, May 12 for a night of family fun at the Kidsbloom Block Party! With exciting activities including inflatables and the Toxic Meltdown, food, face painting, and a silent auction, the night is sure to be a good time for all. New this year, everyone who attends will have a chance to win a hover board included free with your entry fee.

This year's silent auction will feature Jaguar Pride items, both old favorites and new items, including the painting of the spirit rock and Head of School/PE Coach for the Day. Other silent auction items will launch you and your family on a host of fun adventures, from Disney World to trampoline and speedway parks to painting, cooking, and golf.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there! Become a Kidsbloom host by completing the Kidsbloom Host Form or by contacting development coordinator Tracey Baird

Remembering Grace
Grace examines a soil sample in a recent science lab.
Salisbury Academy students and staff payed tribute this week to Grace Gilley and her family - parents Dave and Christine and brother Jack - who were tragically lost in a car accident on April 13. Grace was in the seventh grade at Salisbury Academy and Jack was a fourth-grader at Bostian Elementary.

In a loving and supportive time of community togetherness, staff, students and parents from both Salisbury Academy and Bostian Elementary convened on Monday evening for a vigil to honor the family. Words of inspiration and family stories were shared, and students released balloons bearing messages for Jack and Grace.

Alexandra Shadroui, Grace's homeroom teacher, shares:

Grace laughed often, cared deeply, and was the most loyal friend a friend could have. She was confident and secure at being who God made her to be, and standing up for others when she felt they were not being treated fairly. Grace said she loved her dog more than most people and it was evident she was devoted to her family, as she always smiled when they arrived to pick her up each day.

I see her working intently on a project, paying attention to the details of the lesson, and always checking to make sure she had things right. Active, engaged, and interested in learning. No matter what group she was assigned, she made the best of it and always worked cooperatively with others.

In my last report card comment, I said Grace was, well... full of grace when it came to others. She truly was one of those selfless, fun-loving students who every teacher will remember regardless of the years that pass. She has forever left us with a renewed purpose to follow her lead in kindness and humility.
