Annual SA Alumni Basketball Game: Join in the fun on January 4
Dear Salisbury Academy Families,

This week we are excited to host SA's annual alumni basketball game! Come out to cheer on the varsity girls and boys teams at 4 and 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, with the alumni game to follow at 6:15. To add some extra fun to the varsity games, there will be a free-throw and dunk contest for attendees during the half-time breaks.

Salisbury Academy's alumni hold a special place at our school, and this special evening serves as a great chance for alumni to catch up with friends and classmates who are home on holiday break. It's also a wonderful opportunity for our current families and students to interact with SA grads and learn about alumni adventures and accomplishments as they have progressed onto their high school, college, and professional lives.

We are proud of our former Jaguars and find great joy in supporting them and keeping in touch as they move onto the next steps of their educational journeys. Learn more about our alumni on SA's  alumni blog. For current families with alumni students, be sure to join our Salisbury Academy Alumni Facebook group .

Come join us this Thursday, January 4! Admission for alumni and their families is free. There is sure to be a fantastic time had by all!

Sincerely,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Reading and Friendship: Marley the service dog helps build confidence in fourth grade readers
As part of their read-aloud time to promote reading fluency and comprehension, fourth grade students have delighted in regular visits from a special friend of the canine variety. Marley the service dog of the Canine Angels Therapy Dogs program, accompanied by his devoted owner Norma Shuping, joins the students each month for group reading exercises. Students bring a book of their choice to class and take turns volunteering to read a passage from their book to their classmates, Marley, Ms. Shuping, and Mrs. McCall.

"Marley relaxes everyone and takes away some of the pressures that reluctant readers can feel," shares Mrs. McCall.

By Marley's third visit to the fourth grade, every student had volunteered to read for the group, demonstrating the confidence that readers can develop when given a comfortable setting with a trusted audience.
