A Summer of Adventure Awaits
Dear Salisbury Academy Families:

As we delve deeper into the third quarter of the school year, it's a great time to look ahead at the summer adventures to come!

Salisbury Academy is excited to once again offer the SA Summer Camp to enrolled SA families. This year's camp will be for rising kindergarten through rising fifth grade students and will run for 8 weeks: June 4, June 11, June 18, June 25, July 9, July 16, July 23, and July 30.

Each weekday of SA Summer Camp will have a focus involving service, field trips, art, and science, with Big Splash Day - a day of swimming and lunch at the pool - taking place each Friday. As a new component to our summer programming, we are excited to share that this year students will engage in a weekly adventure and learning opportunity with the Muddy Sneakers organization. This partnership is sure to inspire SA's young conservationists as they get outdoors to explore and experiment with nature!

A more detailed activity and cost outline will be emailed in the near future. Please contact Mrs. Penny Moss, SA Summer Camp director, with questions.

Sincerely,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

The Study of Invention: Fourth grade masters the process of creation
Eureka! Fourth grade students are super inventors! To understand the history and process of invention, students learned the six skills of inventing - collaboration, knowledge, research, documentation, failure, and pitching - and studied a range of informational text about inventors, inventions, and the process of creation.

Empowered with this knowledge, students then created their own inventions after identifying problems and coming up with evidence-based solutions. As their final project, students had the option of creating working inventions, non-working models, or a detailed diagram. Students pitched their inventions to their classmates as shown in the below video. Fourth grade students also held an Invention Fair in the gym where they shared their inventions with their peers from lower and middle school (pictured above). Congratulations students on your masterful creations!
