Thank You to our Parent Volunteers |
Dear Salisbury Academy Parents,
Kidsbloom 2018 was a fantastic community evening! Filled with joyful sounds of children playing and the laughter and conversations among parents, the event was a wonderful way to welcome spring and celebrate as a school family.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Kidsbloom chair Alice Rich and her team of Jennifer Arnez, Emily Graham, Sarah Knight, Katie Menees, and
Gwen Pendleton for a successful event. To the many volunteers who helped serve food, secure auction items, park cars, set up, clean up, and other key tasks for the event, we are so thankful and couldn't have done it without you.
An exciting several weeks lie ahead as we look forward to our SA Talent Show, the eighth grade chapel, Field Day, and graduation. We couldn't do any of these without our super parent volunteers. On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff, thank you for your ongoing help and commitment to our school!
Sincerely,
Beverly Fowler, Head of School

8th Grade Career Shadowing Exploratory
|
|
|
SA alumna Hannah Coulter, a neonatal ICU Nurse at Brenner Children's Hospital, shares with SA's eighth grade. |
|
Delving into career choices and exploring how their interests and strengths can lead to professional success and happiness, students in the eighth grade are journeying through an exploratory on careers. Students began with a SWOT analysis to allow for reflection on and contemplation of goals, interests, strengths, weaknesses, possible opportunities, and possible threats or obstacles for current and future goals.
Students then explored 900 professions and are now enjoying guest presentations by career speakers. Greg Smith, an SA parent and nurse anesthetist, and Hannah Coulter, an SA alumna and neonatal ICU nurse at Brenner Children's Hospital, have both spoken. Upcoming speakers will present on fields including law, law enforcement, real estate, politics, business, and engineering.
On May 18, 21, and 22 eighth grade students will get out into the field to shadow mentors in their areas of interest.

PSA Dress-Down Day on May 18
Students in grades 1-8 may participate in a non-uniform day by bringing in $2 and a non-perishable food item. Food donations support our 2nd grade service learning partnership with Isenberg Elementary School's Weekend Food Backpack Program.
Donations to consider are foods that are easy for a school-aged child to prepare independently such as macaroni and cheese, spaghetti-o's, juice boxes, peanut butter, crackers, or other prepared meal items. Thank you for your support!
