Breaking Ground May 30 on SA's Outdoor Learning Space!
Dear Salisbury Academy Families:

Many months of planning, design, and survey work will come to fruition as we break ground on Salisbury Academy's Outdoor Learning Space on May 30! Join us on Tuesday, May 30 at 9:45 a.m. for this milestone ceremony to launch the construction of phase one of our dynamic outdoor space.

Thank you to our Project Green Space donors and all who share in our vision for an inspiring outdoor environment where students are free to explore, analyze, and create!

We look forward to an exciting summer of making the vision of the Outdoor Learning Space a reality, and to the enjoyment and inspiration that the children will find in the new space when they return to school in the fall.

Sincerely,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Eighth Grade Mentoring Exploratory
Dr. Michelle McCashin speaks about being a large animal vet.
Teacher Mrs. Goodman shares:

During the fourth quarter, eighth grade students participate in a mentoring exploratory with Mrs. Coulter and Mrs. Goodman. During these sessions together, the students explore possible career opportunities through surveys, discussion, and mentorship opportunities. Students spend time off-campus with a variety of community members learning about their work and getting hands-on experience in that field.

The program also brings a variety of community leaders to our campus. The eighth-graders have had the opportunity to hear from experts in the fields of medicine, the arts, technology, and engineering. While the presenters arrive poised to discuss the journey that led them to their chosen profession, much of the conversation is driven by questions from the students.

Special thanks to the following speakers for lending their expertise to this program:

Dr. Leighanne Dorton (Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates, PA)
Adam Baird and Alec Baird (Kontek Industries)
Jeremy Markovich of Our State Magazine
Dr. Michelle McCashin (Large Animal Medicine and Surgery PA)
Jeremy Markovich, editor and writer for Our State Magazine, shares insights into his career.
Dr. Leighanne Dorton gets an ear checkup from Zeb Harry during her presentation on being an ENT doctor.
Adam Baird and Alec Baird of Kontek Industries share fidget spinners made on a 3-D printer during their presentation on explosives engineering.
