First and third grades celebrated like it's 1621 at their Thanksgiving feast on Thursday. Foods enjoyed included dishes that the Pilgrims and Native Americans would have eaten such as venison, carrots, and cabbage.

Counting our Blessings
Dear Salisbury Academy Families,

As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, I am overcome with gratitude for the students, parents, faculty, staff, and supporters who we are blessed to call our SA community.  This Thursday's Founders Day Chapel was a wonderful reminder of the steadfastness of this community and its enduring love for our school and mission.

Thank you for sharing your children with us each day and for the many ways you show your support of our school, from volunteering, to attending school events, to spreading the good word, and oh so much more.

I wish you all a very happy and safe Thanksgiving with those you hold dear.

Sincerely,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Happy 25th birthday Salisbury Academy!  This week's Founders Day Chapel celebrated the people who brought the dream of Salisbury Academy to life and the continuation of that legacy over the past 25 years.

SA was honored to host Founder Georgi Goss as our key speaker at the chapel and to hear her retelling of how the idea of our innovative, experiential school came to fruition. Other key highlights were a musical performance by grades second through fourth, Mrs. Heather Coulter's introduction of Mrs. Goss, and SA alumnus and third grade teacher Mr. Nathan Wyatt's reflections on his journey from a JK - 8 student to an SA faculty member.

Towards the end of the chapel service, the audience and students went wild as an exciting gift to the school was revealed: a brand new Jaguar mascot! (View the action in the video below!)

Thank you to all who joined us for this special morning and to all of our SA parents, students, faculty, and staff for keeping this awesome legacy alive. Hooray for 25 years of SA and the incredibly bright future ahead!

Salisbury Academy Christmas Happiness Party:
Donations for Rowan Vocational Opportunities
SA's commitment to Rowan Vocational Opportunities (RVO) and our Christmas Party with the RVO clients have become tradition; these individuals are truly grateful, and this organization is so deserving of our support.

RVO provides employment, education, therapy, friendship, and many other services for adults with mental disabilities.

The middle school students will help to plan the event and organize collected items. Seventh and eighth graders will take the party and donations to RVO on Thursday, December 14.

We are asking for your help with the following:
  • Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, hand sanitizer, disposable women's and men's razors, Q-tips, Chapstick, lotion and hand cream, cosmetic and vanity kits, shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, bar soap, tissues, perfume/cologne)
  • Combs and brushes
  • Men's and women's sweatshirts and sweatpants (medium to 5XL)
  • Thermal tops and bottoms (medium to 5XL)
  • Men's crew-neck and V-neck t-shirts (large to 5XL)
  • New or gently-used men's (or unisex) coats, jackets, and sweaters (all sizes)
  • Gloves, scarves, hats, toboggans
  • Construction paper, art supplies, and craft kits
  • Adult-sized Santa hats (These are a big hit at our party.  We use them as "prizes," and it is always great when there are enough to go around.
  • microwaves
These items will be collected in the homeroom classrooms and can be dropped off with Mrs. Coulter at any time.  Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated and will be used by Mrs. Coulter to purchase priority items. Please contact Mrs. Coulter with any questions.

*Please send all items by Monday, December 11.
