Jajja's Kids

Addressing the Needs of

Ugandan Street Children

Getting Ready for Uganda 2015!

Dear Friends of Jajja's Kids,

Plans are underway for this year's visit with our kids in Kampala, Uganda.  A team of seven stalwart volunteers leaves Albany on March 10 for two weeks in Kampala and surrounding area.  As we finalize travel plans, we are also gathering supplies to bring to the boys.  Third graders at Verne Critz Elementary School on Long Island have collected books for the boys' home library established last year.  And Second graders in Albany's Delaware Community School are collecting funds for Jajja's Kids.  Last year's Skype conversation between these school students and our boys was such a delightful success on both sides of the ocean that we plan to do it again this year!

Many other useful items for our boys and the children in the surrounding community are needed. This is where you come in, with several ways to help:

Online Campaign for New Shoes:
You may recall that we recently acquired new school shoes for the boys, thanks to a generous donation from one of our supporters.
Well, the boys also need play shoes--sneakers and sandals--to safely enjoy themselves in the yard and on the soccer field.  Through an online website we are raising money for new shoes to purchase in Uganda.  It is fast, easy, safe, and you can access the donation site through this link:   www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/shoes-for-jajja-s-kids-/302046

You can also find it by going to our Facebook page, "Jajja's Kids - Uganda".  And by "sharing" with your Facebook friends, you will help spread the word about Jajja's Kids!

Other Items to Bring in March:
You can also help us collect clothes, games, and paperback books for boys ages 5 to 14. The boys specifically need shorts, t-shirts, pants and rain jackets.  Gently used is fine!
If you are part of a large office, family, church, school or other community organization, please consider collecting for us.  Since packing day is Saturday, March 7, we need to act quickly!  Contact Diane at [email protected] if you have questions or can help with this.

Do You Have a Laptop You No Longer Need???
Last year we were fortunate to be given a computer the boys use to support their education and expand their world. Sharing one computer among so many kids is challenging, however, so Ronnie has requested we find an additional computer for the boys.  If you have an older computer in good working condition that you no longer need, please let Diane know and we will arrange pick-up.
