Gary Joseph Mayo started competing in Special Olympics in 1978.
In his more than 35 year career, Gary has participated in alpine skiing, athletics, aquatics, equestrian, golf, softball and is a trained global messenger, volunteer and fundraiser.
In 1987 Gary represented Team New Hampshire in aquatics at the World Summer Games in Notre Dame.
In 1993 Gary was invited to be a Special Olympics representative at President Clinton's Inaugural Parade.
In 1999 Gary traveled to North Carolina where he again represented Team New Hampshire as the catcher on the softball team at the Special Olympics World Games.
