Guess Who's Coming To Dinner!

With only two and a half weeks to go, Project Transitions is anticipating a record turnout for the upcoming annual Guess Who's Coming To Dinner fundraiser and after-party champagne, dessert and coffee reception at NEST Modern. This year marks the 18th anniversary of this unique city-wide fundraising event that is completely underwritten by the generosity of over 20 hosts.

Surprise guests will be treated to themed culinary extravaganzas at their chosen dinner parties and dine with fellow supporters, making new friends and catching up with old ones. At the conclusion of the dinner, everyone heads down to NEST Modern to catch up with all the guests and hosts for a fabulous "after party" complete with libations, scrumptious desserts, the musical stylings of DJ Big Face, concluding with the drawing of the Southwest Airlines/W Hotel/IPad mini raffle at the end of the night.

Go to the www.guesswhos.org website to reserve your place at the table and also to learn more about the raffle. You do not have to be present during the drawing to win, so anyone can participate in the Guess Who's Coming To Dinner fundraiser even if they cannot attend a dinner!

Anyone interested in volunteering for this event can sign up online now on Volunteer Spot. This is a fantastic way to meet, mingle, enjoy the action and network with other supporters by offering some of your time in an exciting role as a Guess Who's volunteer. Just follow the link below and select a spot from the schedule!

Boys will be girls...

The United Court of Austin and V Nighclub are hosting the outrageously gender-bending fundraiser, "Turnabout" where the tables are turned on your favorite bartenders or drag entertainers. The boys will become girls and the "gurls" will become boys...or at least try their best.

Join in on the calamity and comaraderie with your friends and neighbors on Thursday evening, January 22 and see just how your butchest service industry professional tries their best to hustle behind the bar in heels, and marvel at the deep voices and flannel shirts sported by some of Austin's most celebrated drag Emcees.

The United Court has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Austin-area AIDS service organizations and has served the GLBT community for over 25 years. This evening's benefit will raise money for Project Transitions' programs and services. There will be great drink specials, hilarious entertainment and other surprises, so tell a friend about this event and we'll see you all there!

Volunteer Recognition at Majic 95.5 / Mix 94.7

Congratulations to Jonathan Carter for being recognized in the Lexus Broadway Gives Back volunteer recognition program this month! He has been an invaluable resource to Project Transitions and we're proud to have him represent our organization and be recognized for the great work he does. The lead singers from Mama Mia! were on-hand at the studios to serenade Austin-area volunteers at an appreciation event on Wednesday. He met the cast and also received tickets to that night's performance at Bass Concert Hall!

Not only has Jonathan supported the staff as a volunteer at Doug's House and is on-call to drive residents to their medical appointments when needed, last August he shopped for kids' school supplies, and over the holidays provided every family a Christmas tree and organized and delivered gift packages for the adults in our residential housing programs.

Learn more about the volunteer recognition program at www.majic.com/broadway.

Hill Country Ride For AIDS Kickoff Party

It's that time of year again. The Hill Country Ride for AIDS is just 3 months away and this Thursday, January 22, the Zach Scott Theater will host the kickoff party from 6:30pm - 9pm to welcome past riders and anyone interested in becoming part of the Project Transitions' team, "Bike Curious" as a virtual participant or new rider.

Early registration for the 2015 ride is only $16 through the end of the night. The festivities will be catered by Pink Avocado, which coincidentally is also one of our featured hosts for Guess Who's Coming To Dinner.

The ride this year will be relocated back to a popular scenic location at Krausse Springs and is expected to be bigger than ever. Whatever your skill level, there are 4 different routes to select from so you can choose your own finish line! Even if you cannot physically ride, you can still participate as a volunteer, a SAG and sweep driver or be a virtual rider and still raise money for the team.

If you cannot attend the kickoff party and still want to be part of this life-changing adventure in the Hill Country, go to www.hillcountryride.org and look up Project Transitions Bike Curious and join our team, or contact Layne Box, Team Captain for the Ride at our offices at 512-454-8646, ext 106.
