GREETINGS FROM JANET RADY
|
As the month of March commences, its a case of 'On your marks, get set, go........!' With the Armory Fair in NYC focusing on the MENAM region, followed by the Sharjah Biennial 12, and Art Dubai, all approaching and all equally important, I for one need to ensure endless amounts of stamina (and coffee) to stay the course!
This month we have chosen to focus on Janet Rady Fine Art artist Hojat Amani. Recognised internationally for his appropriation of Qajar and Safavid imagery, Hojat sensitively addresses issues of spirituality and immortality through his contemporising angels, still lifes and cheeky pop figures.
We hope you enjoy reading our newsletter and welcome your comments.
With best wishes from the JRFA Team!

'Your new "Still Life" series combines traditional and modern imagery. Does this blend represent Iran's trajectory towards globalisation?'
'I feel that this collection is more than just a "still life". These are combinations of fruits from the Qajar era, which represent heavenly fruits since they lack perspective and chiaroscuro, giving us a sense of surrealism...'

American art critic Jerry Saltz to Hojat Amani
"Good Job Hojat; really really push it now; You've got something.
Let it take you some place you can't predict."
