January & February Happenings

Brrrr! Winter greetings from high on the hill! Stay warm friends, enjoy that hot tea and toasty fire.

As we welcome the new year at D Acres, we are excited to offer diverse programs for the entire family. January and February provide opportunity to highlight the four season trail system and engage the natural world. From hosting Kid's Days and a Herbal Cold and Flu Workshop  to the regular monthly community food events, D Acres continues to provide the public with a well -rounded schedule of events.

This time of year, on the quiet hillside of Dorchester , NH brings about planning and renewed vigor for the possibilities ahead. Eager to build on 2015, D Acres is excited to plan 2016. To enhance and refine our community outreach into the future we are seeking public input. We need you to help us plan our programs and events. What's Happened?
We've ended the year on a very strong note.
D Acres has been awarded grants from The NH Charitable Foundation and the Getz Charitable Trust, Citizens Bank, N.A. Trustee for building "Farm Based Eco-Literacy with Hand-on Youth Education" programming. The organization is pleased to announce the recent development of the youth programming with Canaan Elementary School. Our staff liaison will provide Canaan Elementary with guidance and expertise in developing a school garden.
Sara Hage, local artist presented successful holiday workshops, and will be back in January and February to keep those creative juices flowing.  Naturalist at Large Becky Brown, a PSU graduate has agreed to join D Acres in youth outdoor activities as well.
Over the course of 2015, D Acres has continued to refine the onsite trail system for public recreational use. Throughout the winter season, the five plus miles of trails are maintained to allow walking, snowshoeing and cross country ski access in a natural setting. The trails ' rigor range from simple one mile hikes to more extensive intermediate three mile journeys in the northern forest. Hoping to entice the public to get out on the trails, D Acres has partnered with Plymouth Ski and Sport to offer a discounted rate on cross country ski rentals. There is also a limited supply of snowshoes for rent onsite.
Want to know more? Stop by, get involved. Join us for a delightful food event. See you soon!
