ANNOUNCEMENTS

Epiphany Adult Education
begins January 18 through February 8 and will be focused on a book written by Robert P. Jones, The End of White Christian America.

Saint Luke Food Pantry - Yes, We Could!- 240 cans of staples in December! Thank you for your generosity! When we received an email on January 2 from Connie Peters co- coordinator of the food panty with Ruth Manchester that their shelves were bare, with the exception of cereal, rice, and mac and cheese, the transfer of items from us to them ASAP seemed essential.  When Connie and Ruth notified us that they wished to come to Good Shepherd on January 3 to pick up our staples, a plan was put in place.  With the assistance of Carol Lewis and Lynn Wood, all cans and other staples are now at Saint Luke Food Pantry getting readied for distribution.  This means our bins are ready to be filled once again.  With the exception of the three items listed above, all hearty and nutritious items are needed.  Think PB&J, tuna, chicken, salmon, chili, pasta meals, hearty soups and stews, vegetables, fruit, and beans (black, kidney, garbanzo). Think bags of fresh apples, oranges and clementines. Think nutritious snacks (NO PEANUTS), such as raisins, almonds, and Nutrigrain bars.  Think generosity with a capital "G".  Check sales and coupons, as well.

Delivery Help Needed - Due to a trip to warmer climes, our number one food pantry deliverer will need back-up help until the end of January.  Please volunteer to make one or two deliveries.  It is easy.  Step #1 - Either take food in the bin home with you after Sunday service or stop by Good Shepherd on a weekday morning.  Step #2 - Take food to Saint Luke Lutheran Church at the corner of Colesville Road and Dale Drive between 10 am and 3 pm on a weekday. Park in any spot in the small lot that you enter from Dale Drive.  Step #3 - Go to the side door, ring the doorbell, introduce yourself and say you're from Good Shepherd. Step #4 - Feel free to use their shopping cart to transport items inside.  Normally you just leave the items in the hallway near the side door.  Step #5 - Say good-bye.  Lynn Wood awaits a contact from you and thanks you in advance.

Bored yet?  The holidays are over so what to do?  Here's a suggestion:  Join your Good Shepherd Family for an afternoon of Games and Pizza Lunch!  We will meet after the 10:30 service on Sunday, January 21st in the Parish Hall.    Bring favorite games and maybe a snack to share and we will provide pizza and soft drinks.

Annual meeting Sunday February 25, one service at 9:30 am.

Preschool News - Good Shepherd Preschool will be holding an Open House every Thursday and Friday (10 am to 11:30 am) through February for 2018 - 2019 registration. Please let family and friends know about the quality experience that GSP provides to children 2 through 5.
